The problem
Generic shop software doesn't know Jamaica — its taxes, its fitness certificates, its phone formats. GarageOS is built for the independent Jamaican auto-repair shop specifically, front desk to customer's phone.
What it does
A shop opens a work order for a vehicle, adds labour and parts lines, gets the customer's approval on price, and moves the job from draft through approved, in-progress, to ready. Invoices generate from the work order with Jamaica's 15% GCT to the cent, take several payment methods including Inkress, and print on shop letterhead. It tracks each customer's vehicles with local plate categories and Certificate-of-Fitness and insurance expiry dates.
Vehicle owners get a passkey portal — no password — to review an estimate and approve or decline a repair from their phone with a typed-name authorisation, and to see service history and invoices. One shared passkey login works across the shop app, the customer portal, and an identity app, so the same person can be staff at one shop and a customer at another with one account.

Invoices correct for Jamaica out of the box
Local tax is calculated to the cent and the layout matches how shops actually bill, so nobody's hand-correcting invoices or worrying they're wrong.

Deliberately scoped for v1 — inventory stock levels, self-service online booking, and accounting export are on the roadmap, not shipped.

How it's built
Three apps — a shop dashboard, a customer portal, and an identity app — share one passkey login, so the same person can be staff at one shop and a customer at another with a single account. It's built on React Router with a Fastify API over Postgres, installable as an offline-capable PWA on both the shop and customer sides.
The work-order is the spine: a job moves from draft through approved, in-progress, to ready, with labour and parts lines that flow straight into an invoice. Everything else — vehicles, parts catalogue, customer history — hangs off that.
The hard problems
Built for Jamaica specifically, not reskinned
Invoices calculate Jamaica's 15% General Consumption Tax to the cent; the system tracks local plate categories, Certificate-of-Fitness and insurance expiry dates, TRN, and local phone formats. That regulatory detail is the product, not a setting bolted onto a generic template.
